Yesterday's cold front definitely delivered a blow to North Texas, and it's not done yet.

This colder-than-normal weather is expected to stick around today and tonight. After dipping down to 29 degrees last night at DFW Airport, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, it's only expected to reach the lower 40s today.

Tonight brings another hard freeze with temperatures forecasted to be in the mid-20s.

While it may seem like record-setting cold to many North Texans, it's not. The record low for Nov. 11 is 19 degrees recorded in 1950. The average temperature for that date 47.

There's some good news, though. Things are expected to begin rebounding Wednesday with sunny skies and a highs in the 50s through Friday. Lows those days should hover in the mid- to low 30s.

The record cold for Tuesday and Wednesday, the National Weather Service said, may be from the southern Plains to the Mississippi Valley to the Great Lakes and beyond, thanks to what it calls an "arctic airmass" that started in Siberia and has been spilling over a big chunk of the Midwest and East Coast.

There will still be plenty of snow into Tuesday in parts of the Northeast as the weather service reported the region may see up to a foot of snow, creating what it called "hazardous travel conditions." Meanwhile, temperatures were forecast below freezing as far south as the Texas Gulf Coast.
