From The Newsroom: Clinton Visits Dallas; How Women Are Employing Themselves

The top local stories this evening from the KERA Newsroom: Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was in Dallas Tuesday. She spent the morning fundraising, then she revved up hundreds of loyalists packed into a gym at Mountain View College in Oak Cliff.

The former secretary of state spoke for half an hour, detailing plans to raise wages, grow jobs and reform health insurance. She also played to the students in the room, saying she wants everyone to have the opportunities she has, and that starts with college.

Governor Greg Abbott named Cecile Young as State Refugee Coordinator. Young will be in charge of coordinating resources for refugee resettlement in Texas. She is currently Chief of Staff of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. 

A Dallas non-profit is helping women create their own path to employment.The YWCA’s Women’s Enterprise Center, and the new entrepreneurs who define it.
