From The Newsroom: Fort Worth's Female WWII Veteran; Helping Black Men Attend Community College


The top local stories this evening from the KERA Newsroom: A community college just south of Dallas got a big grant today from the U.S. Department of Education. The focus of the funding is on helping black male students.

At Veterans Day celebrations across the country today, World War II veterans in their 90s gathered for their annual rite of remembrance. In Fort Worth, KERA caught up with one of the few North Texas women recalling those years.

What’s being billed as the tallest indoor Christmas tree in the country went up today in Dallas shopping mall. It takes a team of more than a dozen “décor experts” helping get the tree ready to be seen by millions of visitors.
