As part of National HIV Testing Day, there will be locations across DFW offering free testing. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly 1.2 million people in the U.S. are living with HIV and almost one in five don’t know they’re infected.
In Dallas County, more than 13,000 people are living with HIV/AIDS, representing an increase of 41 percent in more than nine years. And rates are disproportionately higher in African-Americans.
As part of National HIV Testing day, Dallas County Health & Human Services, Walgreens, and other Hospitals and nonprofit groups have teamed up to offer free testing.
