Dallas Area Rapid Transit launches new rail lines, routes, and higher fares today. One-way fares jump from $1.75 to $2.50 today. But the new fare lasts two hours, so if passengers complete their travel in that time, they can save money. Paratransit fares won't change.
DART’s Mark Ball also says the new, four-and-a-half mile Rowlett Blue Line begins today, as does an extended Orange Line.
"So DART is actually opening a little more than 8 miles of rail Monday morning. Three brand new rail stations, and in addition to that, we’re also adding two new airport services.
You’ll be able to take the Orange Line, for example, to the its terminus, which will be the Beltline station, until December, 2014. And you’ll take it from there to a bus. The bus then takes you to DFW Airport."
Ball says there’s also now a more direct DART bus to Love Field from the Inwood Station.
