Dallas & Grapevine, TX – Unknown problems between some air traffic towers broke communication links between pilots & air traffic controllers at 7 this morning. So the Federal Aviation Administration shut down traffic for about 20 minutes. Officials re-established communications by going around what's believed to be a software problem. Fresh software's been flown in to DFW But the FAA's Roland Herwig says it won't be installed until late tonight or early morning, after experts pinpoint the problem's cause.

Roland Herwig: There's still something wrong in the system. We don't know what it is. But we're working on it.

DFW's airlines are still dealing with delays from this morning. The FAA's Herwig says the communications problems should be completely fixed by tomorrow. Bill Zeeble KERA news.
