Irving, TX –
At a transportation summit in Irving today, the President of the US Chamber of Commerce warned that the country's infrastructure is running out of capacity. Thomas Donohue then announced the Chamber's "Let's Rebuild America" initiative. It will try to raise awareness among citizens and decision makers about the need to increase public investment in roads, rail, utilities and other major projects.
KERA's Shelly Kofler talked to Janet Kavinovsky, the U.S. Chamber's director of transportation infrastructure. She says an increase in the federal gas tax and user fees should be on the table.
