Dallas, TX – Dr. John R. Lane has announced he will retire as McDermott Director of the Dallas Museum of Art in 2008. The DMA board unanimously selected Bonnie Pitman, the current deputy director, to succeed Jack Lane next summer - making her the DMA's first female director. Lane joined the DMA in 1999 as the institution prepared to celebrate its centennial. Most recently, Lane secured the donation of contemporary collections from the Rachofsky, Rose, and Hoffman families, and oversaw the museum's first joint exhibit with the Nasher Sculpture Center - the just-closed Matisse show. Lane will retire to his hometown of Sun Valley, Idaho this time next year.
