Interview with Fort Worth ISD's new superintendent
Dallas, TX –
Fort Worth's new superintendent was thrilled to return to Texas after several years in Rhode Island - and still is. But the state had changed somewhat. Dr. Melody Johnson said Texas always managed to solve education funding problems in the past. But since her arrival in July, the Legislature remains stumped on how to improve school finance and hopes the Texas Supreme Court will soon provide an answer. In the meantime, there's Fort Worth ISD's own budget problems to contend with - not to mention the impact on spending caused by displaced students from the recent hurricane.
