Dallas Veteran Shares Recollections of Iwo Jima

Dallas, TX – 2005 marks the 60th anniversary of a string of battles in the Pacific during World War II. Iwo Jima was one of the toughest, with more than 20,000 Marines killed or wounded in 36 days of fighting. There aren't many survivors left, but Larry Gilbert of Dallas is one of them. The 80-year old told 90.1's Marla Crockett that he still feels obligated to tell the story.
