Campaign Communications May Influence Dallas 'Strong Mayor' Vote

Dallas, TX –

Early voting began April 20 on a city charter amendment from attorney Beth Ann Blackwood that would change the council-manager form of government in Dallas to a strong-mayor system. Polls suggest most people have made up their minds about the issue and are evenly split, so the outcome of the election may depend on undecided voters. Dr. Vanessa Beasley, an Assistant Professor of Political Communication at SMU, has been following how the campaigns have been presenting their case, and she believes voters are making up their minds basically on two issues.
