Bipartisan TX Lawmakers to Host Educational Forum on Stem Cell Research on Wednesday

Austin, TX –

Scientists, ethicists and biotech industry leaders will discuss the scientific, moral and economic aspects of stem cell research at an educational forum Wednesday.

The forum is sponsored by a group of 20 Texas senators and 52 state representatives - Republicans and Democrats - headed by Chair Sen. Judith Zaffirini (D-Laredo) and Co-Chair Rep. Rick Hardcastle (R-Vernon).

The forum, intended for legislators, their staff, and representatives of state agencies and institutions of higher education, will be from 1-5:30 p.m. in Room E1.036, the Senate Finance Committee Room, of the State Capitol.

Among the topics for the forum are:
- What is stem cell research?
- Ethics of stem cell research
- The business and economics of stem cell research
