Asian Tsunami Prompts Relief Efforts in North Texas

By Bill Zeeble, KERA 90.1 reporter

Dallas, TX –

Bill Zeeble, KERA 90.1 reporter: More than a dozen organizations, from the Indonesian Society of Dallas to Zimbabweans Based Abroad, gathered last night in Richardson's FunAsia entertainment center to announce various fundingraising efforts. Gurvinder Singh, with the American Sikh Community, was just one of them.

Gurvinder Singh, American Sikh Community: We are sending volunteers over there. Irrespective of caste, relgion, creed, and what have you - because that's what our religion is founded upon - they'll go over there to help directly in the relief efforts, because we have no administration costs.

Zeeble: North Texas Koreans, Somalis, Thais, Bangladeshis and others have all organized various events over the next few days and weeks to help the thousands of Tsunami victims in need. For KERA 90.1, I'm Bill Zeeble.
