Foot and Mouth

The current outbreak of foot and mouth disease among British cattle is a reminder of how quickly the deadly virus can appear and spread. NPR's Joanne Silberner reports that although the disease is not a threat to humans it can devastate an entire nation's livestock industry. And experts say that what's kept it out of the U.S. so far is a combination of vigilance and luck.
