NPR's Sarah Chayes reports from Paris that while certain American lawyers and court workers are working overtime this week, their French counterparts have been on strike. French public defenders are demanding higher pay, and court clerks there, as well as some magistrates, want the government to hire more personnel and lighten their workload. The strikers held a noisy demonstration in Paris today.
