Angela Paxton won the Republican bid for the District 8 seat in Collin County.

The top local stories this morning from KERA News: There were a few primary victories and upsets in North Texas last night.

Angela Paxton won the Republican bid for the District 8 seat in Collin County. Democrat John Creuzot will take on Dallas County District Attorney Faith Johnson in November. Interim Dallas County Sheriff Marion Brown will do the same against Republican Aaron Meek.

Three North Texas legislators lost their primaries: Dallas state House members Jason Villalba and Roberto Alonzo, along with Wichita Falls state Sen. Craig Estes.

Democratic challengers for Republican Congressman Pete Sessions will head to a runoff election in May, as well as Democratic and Republican candidates vying to replace outgoing GOP Congressman Joe Barton.
