The top local stories this morning from KERA News: Thousands of students across North Texas are expected to walk out of school Friday as part of the National School Walkout.

It's the latest in a series of student-led protests following the February school shooting in Parkland, Florida. It's also the 19th anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting. 12 students and a teacher were killed.

Walkouts across the country will begin at 10, while others will be scheduled near the end of the school day.

Some students are also working with their school administrators to hold student-led assemblies or demonstrations on campus.
