The top local stories this morning from KERA News: A public candlelight vigil's scheduled Thursday night to honor Dallas Police Officer Rogelio Santander.

Santander died Wednesday from injuries in a shooting at a Home Depot in Northeast Dallas Tuesday. The three-year-veteran is the ninth North Texas officer killed in the line of duty in about two years.

The vigil begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Northeast patrol station, located at 9915 Northwest Highway in Dallas.

The Cathedral-Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe in downtown Dallas honored Santander at its Wednesday mass. The mass included prayers for Officer Crystal Almeida and store employee Scott Painter, who also were shot. Both are in critical condition, but recovering.
