Top Stories: Fort Worth ISD Is Trying To Ramp Up Parent Involvement

The top local stories this morning from KERA News: Fort Worth Superintendent Kent Scribner yesterday gave an annual state of education address to the city’s Chamber of Commerce.

He says the district is ramping up its efforts to reach parents and students through efforts like Parent University, where staffers teach parents how to get more involved.

  • Presbyterian elder Mary Mikhael visited North Texas this week to talk to refugees and the churches helping them settle here. Mikhael, who was born in Syria and lives in Lebanon, does relief work in both countries and talked about what Syrian refugees are going through in our Friday Conversation.
