The top local stories this morning from KERA News:

Republican U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz has again been outpaced by his Democratic challenger when it comes to fundraising.

Cruz on Thursday said he raised nearly $4.6 million from April through June, and has about $10.4 million on hand. El Paso Congressman Beto O'Rourke on Wednesday said he raised more than $10 million over the same three-month period, and has about $14 million overall.

O'Rourke has repeatedly outraised Cruz since announcing his Senate bid in March of last year.

Other stories this morning:

  • The city of Hurst says it has repaired a pump on its largest water well after complaints of unpleasant-tasting tap water. City officials say the broken pump forced them to buy water from Fort Worth and use six-smaller wells.

  • Dallas has never figured out what to do with this massive green space near the Trinity River. But Trinity Park Conservancy Brent Brown is in charge of changing that. For our Friday Conversation, he met up with KERA's Rick Holter in the middle of what Brown hopes to make one of the country's largest urban parks.
