A North Texas judge indicted in a campaign contributions investigation has been suspended.
The Texas Commission on Judicial Conduct has suspended Forest Hill Associate Municipal Judge Mario Perez. The criminal case involves alleged incidents before Perez in 2011 became a judge.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Tuesday that Perez is charged with six counts of tampering with a government record. The attorney was indicted in April and suspended June 27.
Perez faces charges that he falsified 2009 campaign contributions of an Arlington school trustee. The trustee has not been charged.
Forest Hill City Manager Sheyi Ipaye said Wednesday that the city council July 17 upheld the suspension.
Perez attorney Greg Westfall says when a judge is charged with a felony he is suspended with pay.

C-130 planes may stay in Texas for next 2 years
It seems that eight Texas Air National Guard cargo transport planes used for post-hurricane evacuations will remain in Texas - at least until 2014.
A Senate Appropriations defense subcommittee Tuesday approved a $604 billion defense spending bill that reverses proposed Pentagon cuts in Air Force personnel and equipment. The proposal included moving the C-130 Hercules planes from Fort Worth's Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in two years.
The full committee is expected to vote later this week.
U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison says the legislation allows lawmakers time to work with the Defense and Air Force secretaries on a long-term plan.
Gulf Coast governors say the big transport planes have carried more than 3,100 people and delivered more than 900 tons of emergency supplies since 2005.

Divorced Amarillo couple indicted in 1987 killing
A Texas Panhandle grand jury has indicted a divorced couple in the 1987 shooting death of a friend.
Potter County Detention Center records show 63-year-old Rosie Green was being held Wednesday on a murder charge. Bond was set at $10,000.
The case involves the death of 23-year-old Arthur Campbell.
The indictment returned in May was unsealed Monday after authorities arrested Green at her Henderson, Ky., home. Her ex-husband, 77-year-old Horace Green of Amarillo, is also charged with murder. He's free on $10,000 bond.
Prosecutor Randall Sims said Wednesday that the Greens had been suspects in the case. Sims declined further comment.
The Amarillo Globe-News reports records indicate Rosie Green was listed as a beneficiary on Campbell's life insurance policy.

Houston-area truck wreck creates hazmat situation
Officials say a trucker has been critically hurt in a Texas wreck that led to a hazardous materials scare when a soap-making chemical leaked.
Hospital authorities say five emergency workers were treated Wednesday for possible exposure to what turned out to be a non-hazardous material.
The Department of Public Safety says the accident happened near Cleveland, about 40 miles northeast of Houston. A freight-hauling truck hit a tree.
Officials say the driver was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital in Houston. Further details on the trucker weren't immediately released.
Bryan McLeod with the Harris County Hospital District says hospital officials initially were not sure of the chemical. A decontamination area was set up. McLeod says experts later determined the chemical was alkaline sulfate, which is used to make soap products.
