At Texas GOP Convention, Ted Cruz Gets A Rousing Reception

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz has fired up the Texas Republican Convention, promising to lead a conservative revolution unseen since the days of Ronald Reagan.

The tea party favorite is a possible 2016 presidential candidate - and seemed like one during his speech Friday before thousands of adoring delegates who gave him numerous standing ovations.

Cruz likened President Barack Obama to Jimmy Carter and decried the economy "being trapped in the Great Stagflation."

He didn't call himself the second coming of Reagan but noted, "In 1980, Washington despised Ronald Reagan."

Addressing the convention later is Attorney General Greg Abbott, the Republican gubernatorial hopeful.

He'll become the face of the state GOP at a time when deep divisions over immigration, guns and gay Texans have pitted many convention-goers against one another.
