Dallas Cowboys player C.J. Spillman is facing dual investigations over an alleged sexual assault that took place on Sept. 20 at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine.
Police say Spillman hasn’t been arrested or charged, but he is under investigation.
A spokesman for the NFL tells the Associated Press that the league is also “looking into the matter” and is seeking to interview the alleged victim.
ESPN is reporting that Spillman is cooperating fully.
Spillman remains on the team during the investigation, but Cowboys coach Jason Garrett says that position could change if Spillman is officially charged.
The Dallas Morning News reported yesterday that Garrett made it clear that any Cowboy facing charges wouldn’t be allowed to play.
This alleged incident follows reported turmoil with how the NFL deals with players facing charges of domestic violence and sexual assault.
