In Garland, many residents returned for the first time to assess the damage. Mayor Doug Athas spoke at a press conference near the intersection at I-30 and President George Bush Turnpike, in one of the most devastated neighborhoods.

In rural Collin County, three people died, as part of the destruction that happened in Copeville east of Lavon Lake. As KERA reports, one elderly couple made it out alive even though their home was totaled.

While tornadoes were plowing through suburbs south and east of Dallas, Tarrant and Denton counties were being drenched. A mudslide blocked a popular interstate exit in Fort Worth.
