From The Newsroom: Growing Pains For Plano; Magnolia Market Mania

Plano has created a new growth and development plan to encourage more mixed-use development like the Shops at Legacy.

The Plano City Council recently approved a growth and development plan that puts a strong emphasis on denser living and mixed-use spaces. However, some residents worry the “Plano Tomorrow” plan might destroy the city’s suburban character.

  • Former CBS News producer Mary Mapes talks about the scandal that ended her career in 2004. The movie “Truth” is based off her memoir about a 2004 story on then-President George W. Bush’s service in the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam War.
  • Fan alert for viewers of the HGTV show “Fixer Upper”: Stars Chip and Joanna Gaines will unveil Magnolia Market this weekend in Waco. The couple transformed a former cottonseed mill into an artisan marketplace, perhaps one of the most ambitious remodeling projects they’ve taken on. 
  • Early voting ends today. Several North Texas school districts have bond proposalson the ballot, and the state is proposing seven amendments to the Texas constitution.
