The Dallas Stars season ended last night in the second round of the Stanley Cup hockey playoffs. Dallas lost to St. Louis by a score of 6 to 1.
Local fans Jack and Bob Price were surprised by the blowout.
“We’re real let down. Mainly came expecting to see a game and we just had a goalie implosion, so it was pretty disgusting,” Jack Price said.
“I could have stopped almost every goal in the first period,” added his brother, Bob.
The first Stars goalie, Kari Lehtonen, gave up three points. Replacement Antti Niemi gave up two and the Blues also scored on an empty net.
Still, Ray Pearce was happy to see the team in the playoffs again and lead the league in scoring.
“I am disappointed but it was a great season and had lot of fun watching the ride,” Pearce said. “And, yes, we still need to work on goal keeping a little bit, but it was a great ride. There’s no doubt about it.”
Blues fan Mark Childs flew in from St. Louis. If his team lost, the Blues’ season would have ended.
“We’re in it either way. win or lose, we’re in it,” Childs said. “So, we’re season ticket holders up in St. Louis. We’re die-hards. That was fun.”
Stars fans gave the team a standing ovation before the game ended. Both teams lined up for the traditional hand shake.
St. Louis doesn’t yet know who it’ll play in the third round.
