Country Singer Randy Travis Hospitalized In Critical Condition

Webster and Associates

Travis was admitted to a Texas hospital Sunday and is listed in critical condition, says his publicity agent.  The Grammy winner is suffering from complications of recently acquired viral cardiomyopathy.

Cardiomyopathy is a disease that can enlarge or thicken the heart muscle, or make parts of it rigid, according the National Heart, Blood and Lung Institute. The disease can weaken the heart and lead to heart failure.

Travis, 54,  was arrested several times in the past year for driving drunk.

He is best known for "Three Wooden Crosses, " "Forever and Ever, Amen," and  "Diggin' Up Bones."
